Cuenca Spanish Capital of Gastronomy 2023
Cuenca will be the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy next 2023, taking over from Sanlúcar de Barrameda, which has held the distinction this year.
The Spanish Capital of Gastronomy is an annual event created by the Spanish Federation of Tourism Journalists and Writers (FEPET) together with the Spanish Hospitality Federation (FEHR) to recognize the city that has stood out the most in promotion, at a national level. and international, of gastronomy as one of the main attractions for tourism in Spain. This award, in its history, increases the number of visitors to the cities that hold it, a fact that we hope will benefit, not only Cuenca, but the towns of the province. From an economic point of view, it will mean an increase in business in the hospitality sector and in the primary sector, responding to greater demand from local producers, the main attraction of Cuenca's gastronomy. Without a doubt, a great boost for the city of Cuenca.
Cuenca's gastronomic proposal is based on tradition and simplicity, intermingled with daring and innovative cuisine that relies on local producers. And the nature that Cuenca preserves, in addition to being a paradise for ecotourism lovers, is the origin of great treasures such as mushrooms, game meats, trout, honey, wines... under the designations of origin. that give our producers the support of excellent quality. Special mention for our cheeses within the DOP Queso Manchego, or the DOP Saffron from La Mancha, the DO Miel from Alcarria Cuenca, the PGI El Ajo Morado from Las Pedroñeras, PGI Cordero Manchego; All of this accompanied by an extensive wine cellar, such as DO Uclés, DOP Ribera del Júcar, DO Manchuela and DO Mancha wines.
And to all this is added a team of professionals at the forefront of hospitality that makes Cuenca's gastronomic offer irresistible. Do you already know where you are going to go on your next getaway?... To Cuenca!
